there was a band called "Chapter One" who used to play regularly in The Crown pub at Seaford. The mouthpiece of this band was known as "Wag"
One of the pub's clientelle was known as Sheldon, a young lad who wanted to be a singer in a punk rock group. Many years later achieved his ambition by teaming up with Wag to form "The Southern Alliance" whose manager promptly sacked Sheldon leaving Wag with no no one to play with.
4 years later the duo were back with a vengence as "The Crouch Potatoes" releasing two singles which enjoyed local radio airplay.
In early 2006, Stevie Dangerous and Stefan were playing in a local rock band. Steve was very disenchanted and after a chance meeting with Wag in a pub, he jumped ship and they agreed to set up a new punk band with Sheldon as singer. They were later to be joined by Stefan on bass. Steve had played for a number of punk bands over the years including "Chelsea". Stefan had lived in the West Country for some time before moving to the South East and played in several locally successful punk, ska and rock bands in the Bristol area, in 2 cases with his brother Mark.
And so the line-up was complete and "Insane Society" was launched.
Sept 2006 saw the first rehearsals and recordings of the new band. 19 songs were written, rehearsed and recorded in less than three months and by early 2007 were ready to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
Since then we feel we have gone from strength to strength with every gig and seem to have wide appeal to both young and older audiences. Younger audiences appreciate our music as different to that which they hear today and recognise it as being close to the original sound and feel of punk. Older audiences very much enjoy the style of music we play as it reminds them of the punk music they listened to in their youth. All ages seem to appreciate the humour and the sentiments in our material. We are also being offered an increasing number of bookings as support to well-known punk bands such as 999 who we know personally and are big fans of.
